Electric fusion link
Electric fusion connections include electric fusion socket connections and electric fusion saddle connections. The outstanding advantages of electric fusion connection are reliable quality (reducing human factors) and high construction efficiency.
Due to the high manufacturing technology requirements of electric melting pipe fittings, their cost is also relatively high. Electric fusion connection is mainly used in gas pipeline systems with smaller diameters. The guarantee of stable quality of electric fusion connection mainly relies on strict adherence to the prescribed operating procedures and the quality of electric fusion fittings.
mechanical connection
Mechanical connections include two types: clamp type connections and compression type connections. Although polyethylene pipeline systems mainly use hot melt and electric melt connections, in some applications, mechanical connections are more convenient and economical for polyethylene pipeline systems.
For example, repairing a damaged buried PE water pipe in a pit, the site conditions cannot guarantee that there is no water at the connection point; If it is necessary to connect a small number of large-diameter PE water pipes in the field, using hot melt connection may require specialized equipment, which may be uneconomical; Also, mechanical connections are required when connecting PE water pipes to other pipelines.
hot melt connection
Hot melt connection refers to the ability of polyethylene pipes and fittings to be connected by hot melt, and the strength at the connection exceeds the strength of the PE pipe fittings themselves.
The hot melt connection methods for PE water pipes include hot melt butt joint (including saddle connection) and hot melt socket connection.
Hot melt socket connection is suitable for pipes and fittings with relatively small diameters, because the walls of pipes and fittings with small diameters are thinner and the cross-sections are smaller, making it difficult to ensure quality by using butt joints.
Hot melt welding is suitable for pipes and fittings with relatively large diameters, which is more cost-effective and easier to manufacture than socket connections. Additionally, the oxide surface layer is cut off before welding, and the welding pressure can be controlled, making it easier to ensure quality.
